Hellyer County Park
Festival in the Park is a free, family-oriented event created to inspire and excite people to take charge of their health through fitness, fun and adventure.
Last year's festival was attended by more than 3,000 people and featured over 100 exhibitors. To support this massive event, County Parks needs volunteer assistance in the areas of visitor and exhibitor hospitality, exhibit set-up and teardown, Kid Zone attendants, water station technicians, general cleanup and more. Event Set-up (Friday, June 5)
Help us get ready for the big day! Tasks include transporting and setting up tent canopies, barricades and event signage.
Erect portable picnic tables
Assist staff with setting up water stations
**Great for groups of 5-10

Day of Event - Saturday, June 6
Exhibitor & Raffle Check-in
Tasks: Check in exhibitors, give packets, take in raffle donations, fill out donation cards.
Take raffle items from exhibitors, log and tag them, and transport materials to raffle booth
Monitor exhibitor traffic near VIP and disabled parking lots ? refer exhibitors to designated parking lots
Shift: 8:00 a.m. ? 11:00 a.m.
Exhibitor Setup Assistance
Tasks: Assist exhibitors with questions/ finding booth, transporting materials to booths, assisting with set up. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
**Great for groups of 5-20
Shift: 8:00 a.m. ? 11:00 a.m.
Raffle Booth
Tasks: Organize raffle items, provide security, verify winners, crowd control
Shift: 8:00 a.m. ? 12:00 p.m. 12:00 ? 3:00 p.m.
Volunteer Check-in
Tasks: Assist staff with welcoming, volunteer sign in and assignments, escort groups to stations, help run the spin wheel/giveaways
Shift: 8:00 a.m. ? 12:00 p.m. 12:00 ? 3:00 p.m.
Volunteer Recruitment
Tasks: Promote volunteer opportunities to event volunteers, the public and exhibitors. Help with volunteer signups and collecting applications
Shift: 8:00 a.m. ? 12:00 p.m. 12:00 ? 3:00 p.m.
Wellness Motivators
Tasks: Check in with volunteers at the festival and provide breaks, offer sunscreen, water, supplies, etc. Run supplies to volunteers or staff as needed. Motivate and encourage wellness for volunteers (hydration, sun protection, etc.) Optional: Dress in a fruit or veggie mascot costume to promote health! Rotate at least on hourly basis and stay hydrated!

Shift: 10:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
Kid Zone
Tasks: Crowd control, monitor kids’ ages for activities, stamp kids’ hands, monitor as they enter/exit and bounce in bounce houses, collect parent waivers.
**Great for groups of 5-10
Shift: 10:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
Youth Stage Assistant
Tasks: Assist staff and performers at the youth stage
Shift: 10:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
Water Stations
Tasks: Monitor each station, distribute water bottles, refill water dispensers. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and wear gloves while handling water jugs.
**Great for groups looking for a workout!
Shift: 10:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
Fresh Approach Station
Tasks: Distribute passports, stamp and verify passports at activity stations, distribute fruit/veggie bags, crowd control (10@passport table 10@activity stations, 10@distribution, 6 to rotate breaks)
**Great for groups of 5-15
Shift: 10:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
Trail Watch Patrollers
Tasks: Greet public, direct walkers to Festival, assist disabled/elderly to ADA shuttle, count people boarding shuttle, patrol for litter and safety, split between parking lots and festival grounds
Shift: 10:30 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m.
Attendance Counters
Tasks: Count festival visitors as they enter the park. Work in pairs, one group at each entrance.
Optional: Dress in a fruit or veggie mascot costume to promote health! Rotate at least on hourly basis and stay hydrated!
**Great for groups of 3
Shift: 10:30 a.m. ? 3:00p.m.
Cleanup/Teardown
Tasks: Pick up litter, assist exhibitors with tent collapse and loading, collapse Parks’ tents, collapse internal signage and barricades and transport to exhibitor check-in. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. *Several County authorized drivers needed for this role.
**Great for groups of 5-25 looking for a workout!
Shift: 2:30 p.m. ? 5:00 p.m.
Volunteers are able to sign up for one or more of the above shifts. Volunteers donating 6+ hours of their time on Saturday will receive a meal voucher. The festival takes place on the Cottonwood Lake side of Hellyer County Park. On Saturday, volunteers will meet at the Volunteer Check-in booth.
Pre-registration is required. When registering, please indicate which day and shift(s) you want to volunteer. No special skills are needed. Some roles require ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs. Please bring sturdy shoes, sunscreen and a water bottle. All registered volunteers will receive a confirmation notice prior to the event, including a map, final details and a t-shirt!
