To raise awareness, educate the community, and prevent domestic violence (DV), Compass Center offers extensive community education (CE) programming in Spanish and English.

The DV CE intern is a 7-9 hour/week unpaid position that will focus on some the following tasks. We are seeking one intern to focus on adult education, and one to focus on youth education:

1. Implement Compass Center CE programs: Start Strong (our teen dating violence program), Breaking the Silence (our adult DV presentation), and/or MAGIC (Media Analysis of Gender and Image Construction) materials.

2. Outreach to groups of interest for Compass Center CE Programs.

3. Create relevant workshops, trainings, and materials for target groups of interest to Compass Center´s CE Programs.

4. Assist in the planning and execution of Compass Center Community Educator trainings.

5. Attend the 14 hour Compass Center Community Education Training in Fall 2015 (September 12 th 12-4, September 15 th , 17 th , 21 st , and 23 rd 5:30-9).

6. Design, create, roll out, and evaluate a social norms campaign that focuses on teen dating violence prevention for middle school students.

7. Provide support supervising and scheduling volunteer facilitators.

8. Provide support writing grant applications for CE programs.

Qualifications:

 Experience with/ interest in issues of DV and violence prevention.

 Experience with/ interest in education and prevention programs.

 Experience with/ interest in educating youth OR education adult populations.

 Ability to create and implement clear engaging educational workshops and materials.

 Desire to help members of the community.

 Responsibility, good judgment, sensitivity, and team spirit.

 Desire to learn about the Center and its mission, services and systems.

 Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds.

 Initiative, responsibility and problem solving skills

 Spanish a plus.

 Commit to serving in the internship through April 2016
