IT'S THE MOST FUN YOU'LL HAVE ON A SATURDAY MORNING! Anyone who has been to a Girls on the Run 5K knows that it is unlike any other running event. It is a celebration of and for the girls who are completing a twelve week season of Girls on the Run programming. Each girl is paired with a volunteer running buddy who serves as a mentor who paces and encourages her as she completes the race. The entry to the Girls on the Run 5k is complimentary for running buddies. In exchange, we ask that running buddies complete a background check through our vendor, Unique Background Solutions. There is an $8.00 cost for the background check. You will receive instructions on obtaining your background check online once you complete registration.

Description
Running is our teaching tool, but we are more than just a "running program." An afterschool program for 3rd through 8th grade girls, Girls on the Run not only prepares it participants to complete a 3.1-mile run/walk, it also uses a fun, 12-week curriculum to teach them how to deal with the challenges they face every day: peer pressure, bullying, self-esteem and more.
