Access Home Care and Hospice

Do you want to make a difference? Feel the difference and Volunteer!

Access Hospice volunteers support the caregivers and family members involved with the individual. Often time, a patient or family member can use a little extra help. Our care allows patients to maintain their independence and dignity near the end of life, while providing valuable support for family members. Hospice is a holistic medical program that focuses on the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing of people with a life-limiting illness. Volunteers are a very important component of the Hospice team and provide support to patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or skilled nursing facilities. Volunteers also provide valuable support to caregivers and family members involved with the individual. In addition, volunteers may provide indirect care by assisting with Hospice administration.

Volunteering with Access will make a big difference in your life as well as the patients and family members of those you serve.

Volunteers needed for patient visits- make social visits, record life histories, creating memory books, light housekeeping, meal preparation, music, reading and many other activities!

Volunteer opportunities are also available in our office- filing, answering phones, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Volunteers are expected to visit assigned patients every week and turn in visit notes for every visit.

• When volunteers are unable to make a visit, they need to report it to the Volunteer Coordinator and give the patient/ family notice if an appointment was previously scheduled.

• Volunteers are expected to attend Quarterly Trainings and a yearly evaluation.
