Did you know that around 19,000 adults in Cabarrus County do not have their high school diploma?
Or that many do not have the skills that they need to fill out a job application, take a driver’s exam, compose an email, understand a bill that has come in the mail, or read to their children?
Consider becoming a literacy tutor or volunteer! If you can read & write, you can teach someone to read & write. Minimum time requirement: 1 hour per week.
The Cabarrus County Literacy Council is offering a tutor training workshop on:

Description
CCPL's literacy program offers the following services to adults in Cabarrus County:
1. Reading and writing assistance to English speakers
2. Teaching English to non-native English speakers
3. U.S. Citizenship interview and exam preparation
4. Reading groups for inmates at the Cabarrus County Detention Center
(We also built and maintain an inmate library within the Detention Center, staffed by Literacy Services volunteers.)
