Ushers Wanted for Theatre Horizon's production of IN THE BLOOD

Theatre Horizon (Norristown, PA) seeks volunteer ushers for In The Blood by Suzan-Lori Parks, running April 16-May 9. We need as many volunteers as possible. Our usher policies are as follows:

• Theatre Horizon typically schedules 3-4 ushers for all performances and readings.
• Ushers must arrive at the theater one hour before curtain time. If someone is a new usher, they should arrive an additional 5-10 minutes earlier to review policies.
• Ushers must dress appropriately. Theatre Horizon does not have a particular dress code. They may wear whatever they like as long as it is not ratty jeans or sneakers!
• All ushers are welcome to watch the performance for FREE. They may also bring a friend to the show for a discounted ticket price of $25 (regularly $34).
• We ask that all volunteers sign up to usher more than once per season (can be several times during one production or spread out throughout the season) so as to cultivate an ongoing family of volunteers and diminish quick turnover.

Usher jobs may include any of the following:

• Stuffing programs with cards, forms, etc.
• Helping the house manager reserve seats in the theater for Subscribers.
• Stocking and selling concessions (before the show AND during intermission).
• Helping prepare the lobby for opening the box office.
• Greeting patrons at the lobby door.
• Helping at the box office with will-call and Subscriber tickets.
• Taking ticket stubs and handing out programs.
• Seating subscribers and other patrons as they enter the theater.

It is important to remember that while you are volunteering for Theatre Horizon, you are a representative of the company. We expect ALL ushers to be prompt, friendly, helpful, and agreeable to the patrons and staff. We also expect that you will complete your assigned task(s) with diligence and care.
