Hearts with Hope is PADV’s premier annual gala where over 450 corporate, professional and community leaders gather at the Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead to raise awareness and create hope for a domestic violence-free future. The 2015 Hearts with Hope Gala will feature a Kentucky Derby theme, cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, silent and live auction. This event is PADV’s largest fundraiser of the year and an event of this magnitude would not be possible without the help of our volunteers, so sign up below today to lend a helping hand! Volunteers may sign-up below for one or more shifts. Before you do, please note the following:
- DAYTIME Volunteers: The day shift will primarily be involved with setting up the Gala. Volunteers should dress comfortably and in clothing that may get dirty.
- EVENING Volunteers: The evening shift will be during the actual gala. The Gala will be Kentucky Derby themed so please dress accordingly. Men generally wear seersucker or khaki suits with a necktie or bowtie. Women wear colorful and frilly dresses, generally cocktail length. Hats are not required, but are fun! Most importantly, everyone should be sure to dress comfortably and appropriately since you may be standing much of the night.
Volunteers will be familiarized and trained on their assigned tasks during their shift; we will not be meeting prior to the event day to do so. Please remember that we want you all to enjoy yourselves at the Gala. Volunteering should be, first and foremost, fun! However, your primary function is to support the PADV staff. As a result, volunteers will not be allowed to drink alcohol or eat meals provided for Gala patrons, but there will be a smaller food selection available for specifically for volunteers. Description
Partnership Against Domestic Violence (formerly the Council on Battered Women) began as a volunteer agency in 1975. The organization became incorporated in 1977. Today the agency has over 40 full and part-time staff with an administrative office in Decatur and two 24-hour emergency shelters in Fulton and Gwinnett Counties.
Volunteer Qualifications
- All volunteers must be 18 years old or older. Due to state regulations, we are not allowed to have minors volunteer or accompany volunteers in the shelters.
- Many PADV volunteers are survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). However, if you are a survivor of IPV or have experienced a loss due to IPV, we ask that you wait a minimum of 12 months before volunteering as a Direct Service volunteer with PADV.
- In order to maintain continuity of service and effective communication, we prefer that shelter volunteers sign up for an average of a minimum of four hours per month.
- Volunteering opportunities at PADV are NOT available for those who are looking to fulfill court-ordered community service requirements.
