The Exploratory will be bringing their 3-lane 50ft Nerdy Derby racetrack to El Rincon’s annual Science Rocks Fair & Festival, their largest event of the year! This year they will include many new and fun activities for the community to enjoy. These activities included a bake-off, engineering contest, astronomy and habitat domes from science museums, physics and zoology presentations for all ages to enjoy, chemistry activity and demonstration booths, entertainment and more!

El Rincon Elementary is the only STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) school in the Culver City Unified School District. Their student population is 70% Latino or African American.


Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with The Exploratory at the Nerdy Derby activity and have FUN!


Date: Friday, April 24th, 2015


Time of Event: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Afternoon Shift: 1 p.m to 5 p.m. OR Evening Shift: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

From that center, STEAM subjects( Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math ) are artfully woven with making and tinkering opportunities as provocations to the child’s development of innovation and creative thinking skills.
