Position Overview: Sponsorship Ambassador

What does a Sponsorship Ambassador do?

The Sponsorship Ambassador is a key member of the Donor and Corporate Committee, which is

led by the local Donor and Corporate Ambassador volunteer (DCA). The Sponsorship

Ambassador works with the DCA and other affiliate volunteers to prospect, solicit and steward

prospective corporate and community sponsors for the affiliate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Solicits PurpleRide/Stride/Light sponsors for the affiliate- including corporate, family and individual sponsors- in collaboration with the DCA, affiliate volunteers and National Office
  • Secures renewed pledges from past event sponsors in collaboration with the DCA, affiliate volunteers and National Office
  • Ensures that event sponsors receive all sponsorship benefits and top notch event-
    day customer service in collaboration with the DCA, PurpleStride/PurpleLight Chairs and the National Office
  • Encourages sponsors to start PurpleStride/Ride teams
  • Builds strong relationships with the sponsors and keeps sponsors apprised of affiliate and organizational news; ensures sponsors are stewarded year round
  • Regularly updates the Donor and Corporate Ambassador and/or the affiliate on all activity
  • Updates and tracks sponsorship activity the affiliate’s shared prospect pipeline ona regular basis
  • When applicable, aids in the implementation of the Honorary Chair program
  • Connects the dots on potential higher level sponsor opportunities
  • Attends organizational trainings and webinars relating to the sponsorship program
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of organizational messages in order to accurately represent the organization and affiliate to sponsors
  • Responds to inquiries from sponsors, local constituents and National Office within two business days

Founded in 1999, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is dedicated to fighting the world’s toughest cancer. In our urgent mission to save lives, we attack pancreatic cancer on all fronts: research, clinical initiatives, patient services and advocacy. Our effort is amplified by a nationwide network of grassroots support. We are determined to improve patient outcomes today and to double survival by 2020.

Description

The volunteer Affiliate is comprised of passionate volunteers who drive our mission to raise awareness and funds to end pancreatic cancer. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) prides itself on a nationwide grassroots army, inspiring over one million people to take action and accelerate progress in the fight to end pancreatic cancer. With guidance from PanCAN staff, local affiliates are led by a volunteer leadership team that includes an Affiliate Chair, PurpleStride Chair, Mission Chair and November Awareness Chair. This leadership team engages other volunteers and community members through committees supporting the organization’s mission at the local level.
