The Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce proudly sponsors Ready to Learn (RTL) a monthly reading program impacting the children of Los Angeles. RTL takes place one Saturday morning a month at 49th Street Elementary (LAUSD). We spend time listening to first grade children read, helping them as needed. There are also opportunities to read to the children and assist them with arts and crafts related to their reading. The program reaches 45-53 students each month.

We also provide the students with healthy snacks and a nutritious lunch. The program culminates with a trip to Disneyland for all students with 90% or better attendance. Many of our students would not have the opportunity to have this magical visit to Disneyland, without the Ready To Learn program.

Reading is so essential for academic success and we believe Ready to Learn can help children develop an enthusiasm for reading by making it fun. We’d love to have you help us have a positive impact on the futures of the children at 49th Street Elementary School.
