We are looking for volunteer to help out at our aquatics meet on April 18th. There are many jobs available including but not limited to:
AUDITOR (Poolside)
The Auditor records the time, disqualifications and placement of each swimmer in the heat. The Auditor verifies that the placement designated by the Place Judges match with the times on the timing tape.
COMPUTING RESULTS
Volunteers enter the heat results into the computer prior to awards.
MARSHAL (Poolside - Work with athletes)
The Marshals are responsible for escorting athletes from the time they report to the Staging Area for their event until they receive their award. Marshals work in teams of two and does a lot of walking..
PLACE JUDGE (Poolside)
The duty of the Place Judge is to judge each heat by finishing order, or place. At the completion of each heat, each Place Judge determines the placement of each swimmer and then compares his/her place order with the other judges to determine the official placement for the heat.
RUNNER (Poolside - Requires lots of energy)
The runners are responsible for collecting the necessary paperwork before and after a heat and delivering it to the appropriate area. Requires a lot of walking and you work by yourself.
TIMER (Poolside)
Timers time each heat using stopwatches or the pool’s electronic timekeeping system. Two or three timers are assigned to a lane. They confirm the name and lane of the swimmer and encourage the swimmer during the race
VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN
Volunteer check-in is responsible for checking in all volunteers upon their arrival. Morning shift start time is 7:00 AM .

Special Olympics Washington provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with mental retardation or a closely related developmental disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
