Join us in creating a summer camp experience for kids in our residential treatment programs at St. Vincent's Villa. A break from their normal summer schooling routine provides valuable recreational therapy for the children.

When: Mondays through Thursdays for two weeks in August: the 10th through 13th and 17th through 20th. Mornings and afternoons.

Who: The children are aged 5 through 13. Prospective volunteers should be 18+. Groups and individuals welcome!

What: Our kids love interacting with people from the community and having new people with which to talk and play. Volunteers will help staff with supervision of children* and help facilitate activities, such as arts and crafts, games, and time at the on-site swimming pool. Groups can also organize additional events, if appropriate, and take a block of time (or a day) to provide a special experience (e.g. a meal, carnival games, etc.).

NOTE: All volunteers must complete Pre-Service Training. The last session before this event is: June 18th, 2015. Please keep this date in mind as you apply.

*Volunteers are never expected to intervene in difficult behaviors, and fully trained staff are always nearby and providing overall supervision.

About St. Vincent's Villa:

St. Vincent's Villa Residential Treatment Center (RTC) provides comprehensive therapeutic services to children whose behavioral and emotional needs have not responded to interventions and services provided at home or in the community. A comprehensive plan for therapeutic services is developed based on a thorough assessment of each child and in partnership with the family.

St. Vincent's Villa Diagnostic and Evaluation and Treatment Program provides an intensive residential diagnostic and stabilization program at its Pot Spring campus. Through this program, children with significant behavioral and emotional needs receive a comprehensive evaluation, in partnership with the family, to determine a course of treatment to address the child's needs. This may include placement with the family with a plan for out-patient services, referral for therapeutic foster care or group home, or referral for more intensive residential treatment.

For more info and examples of services offered through both programs, please visit the St. Vincent's Villa section of our website.
