Objective (What is the job expected to accomplish?): FV volunteers are asked to meet with an isolated senior for at least an hour twice a month at the client’s place of residence. The purpose of this visit is to socialize with the client: chat, watch TV, play games, etc. The purpose of the visit is NOT to assist the client with chores or take the client out of their home.

Responsibilities (What SPECIFIC tasks will the volunteer do to carry out the objective? How does the volunteer job relate to staff responsibilities?): FV volunteers will transport themselves to the client’s place of residence and spend at least one hour "socializing" with the client. FV volunteers are encouraged to inform JFS staff of any safety concerns encountered. FV volunteers should not perform household duties, provide transportation services, or otherwise remove the client from their place of residence. "Socializing" can include talking, watching television, playing cards, etc. It is an opportunity for the client to engage with someone and provide a meaningful connection for the client.
