About Texas Museum of Science & Technology

Location:

1220 Toro Grande Dr, Cedar Park, TX 78613, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a world-class planetarium, science museum and technology center to inspire Central Texas children and adults to learn about the wonders of science and space exploration.

Description

Cedar Park is now home to the the first and only science & technology museum in Central Texas. The Austin Planetarium opened as the Texas Museum of Science & Technology (TXMOST) in an interim facility located in the former SoccerPlex building just off Whitestone Boulevard (FM 1431) and Parmer Lane, on 1220 Toro Grande Boulevard. The building is 30,000 square feet with 35-foot ceilings, which will enable TXMOST to build a smaller version of the permanent facility to come.

We changed our name from the Austin Planetarium to the Texas Museum of Science & Technology (TXMOST) to better communicate our true vision of bringing a world class science and technology center to the Austin area. Most importantly however, on March 20th, 2015 we opened our doors! Additionally, our new web address (URL) is now www.TXMOST.org. So please update your bookmarks.

For years, the Austin area has been the largest metropolitan area in the United States without a multidisciplinary science museum or planetarium. TXMOST will fill this longstanding void, introducing a whole new world of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education to Central Texans.

TXMOST will open with traveling exhibits developed by world renowned museums and research institutions. We will increase our own permanent collections as time goes on, as well as adding a planetarium before the end of the year.
