Do you enjoy learning? Do you enjoy helping children to learn? Career Day Helpers volunteer their time to assist for this one-day event, in celebration of the national "Bring Your Child To Work Day" at the Polk County Board of County Commissioners' Administration headquarters. Helpers assist Organization & Employee Development (OED) staff with passing out/collecting papers and identifying students who may need supplies, or a question answered. Class will host 20 students - ranging between 4th-7th grade. The morning shift takes place indoors, and students & Helpers will hear engaging presentations from various County staff concerning different occupations at the County.
Following a pizza lunch (2nd shift), the Helpers assist staff by helping to carry supplies, such as a cooler & snacks to an outdoor shaded area for an expo of other county careers and demonstrations of equipment utilized. During the expo, assist keeping students engaged and visiting the different exhibits and/or assist in serving snacks. Helpers (all shifts) are invited to participate in complimentary lunch.
