Job Title: Marketing and Social Media Intern/Volunteer

SUMMARY
YWCA Pierce County seeks a creative Marketing and Social Media Intern/Volunteer with a passion for ending domestic violence and advancing social justice and dignity for all. The Marketing and Social Media Intern/Volunteer will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to YWCA’s marketing materials and social media platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Writing and curating inspiring, engaging content for YWCA social media, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
- Staying on top of trending topics on social media and assisting Marketing Coordinator and Development Director in strategizing how YWCA can join the conversation
- Brainstorming ideas for future content
- Testing and analyzing social media content
- Distribute marketing information to organizations within Pierce County when needed
This is a general description of the responsibilities of the position; other duties may be assigned.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Commitment to YWCA vision, mission and values
- Firm understanding of the basic tenets of feminism and women’s issues
- Detail orientated
- Knowledge of current social media trends
- Understanding of social media platforms
- Excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a collaborative, team-based environment and communicate across all levels of the organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read, interpret and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Acceptable Washington State Patrol Criminal History Record
- Must have the ability to transport self in and around Pierce County, if driving a personal vehicle then must possess current and valid Washington State Driver’s license as well as insurance per Washington State Law
COMMITMENT
Candidate must commit to interning/volunteering for 3 months and be available for 5-10 hours a week. Candidate will work from the YWCA Pierce County administrative offices during business hours, which are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Support from community members via volunteers and donations helps the YWCA Pierce County support our clients in creating lives free of violence, and able to thrive.
