ORGANIZATION: Crossroads Adaptive Athletic Alliance

Crossroads is looking for someone to help us refine our brand for better messaging.

We are a young nonprofit and have found that even the stakeholders we work mostly closely with often do not have a clear understanding of all we offer. We are looking for someone to take an objective look at how we communicate and use our brand to promote adaptive athletics and then give us recommendations.

In the long run, if we can't communicate to potential donors, sponsors, partners, athletes, and others, we cannot generate the revenue to continue our mission of inclusion through education.

Mission Statement

Crossroads Adaptive Athletic Alliance's mission is to level the playing field for adaptive athletes by helping to facilitate the integration of permanently injured athletes into both the sporting community and the local community at large through sport and competitive efforts. Our most enthusiastic desire is to work as an advocate for adaptive athlete inclusion in sports and fitness worldwide. We do this, primarily, through grants for adaptive athletes and education for coaches wishing to work with adaptive athletes.

Description

Crossroads is a 501(c)3 whose programs fall into 3 pillars: Sport, Community, Education.

Sport. The concept is to maximize inclusion - in training, in competitions, in all sports and fitness arenas. Eventually, we would like to collect enough data to remove many of the exclusionary categories in sport and level the playing field. In the meantime, we advise events looking to add an adaptive category; we host the Working Wounded Games, and we provide grants to adaptive athletes to compete.

Community. Through each of our interactions, we are building a wider community to share success, tips, best practices, and understanding. We highlight gyms, nonprofits, and businesses that have committed to inclusion and support of adaptive athletes through our alliance network.

Education. Through our seminar series, we attempt to educate coaches about interacting with, assessing, and programming for adaptive athletes in order to increase awareness and inclusionary practices. As adaptive inclusion grows in sport from the extraordinary to the ordinary, we expect adaptive athletes to progress even further in the fitness community to become fitness educators, coaches, and trainers. To encourage this, we offer grants for athletes to obtain certifications.
