ORGANIZATION: Inspire Youth Project

transportation

Since 1988, Inspire Youth Project has been a place where children and youth impacted by HIV/AIDS, trauma, neglect, and abuse can find a place of belonging, support, and understanding. Support groups, called Magic Circles, are offered to our children throughout the school year. They are safe, confidential, non-judging spaces. Creative and visual arts are often used to help facilitate the group process. In the weeks we offer Magic Circle Support Groups (sessions January through June and September through December), children need rides to and from the office. This will allow children to participate, while freeing up staff time to focus on providing the best program possible.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicate with program staff to confirm which child(ren) you are picking up and/or dropping off.
  • Carry with you a copy of the signed release for each child you transport.
  • Check in at the school, daycare, or home you are picking the child up from and complete any required procedure for checking a child out of that location.
  • Interact with the child(ren) in a friendly, approachable manner . Learn names and talk to them about their day.
  • Drive carefully, observing all traffic laws and using caution.
  • Hold children’s hands’ when walking along the street, in parking lots, and when crossing streets. Help children remember safety precautions they should take in parking lots, on roads, and crossing streets.
  • Ensure that each child is safely and securely buckled into their seat, using the booster seat(s) provided by Inspire Youth Project.
  • Walk the children to the door of Inspire Youth Project if delivering them to the office, and check in with the staff person to ensure that children are supervised before leaving. If delivering them to their homes, check in with the adult there, to ensure that the child is properly supervised before leaving.
