Violin Masterclass
Carla Trynchuk, Director of OMF String Program, offered two masterclasses. An inspirational teacher grouned in the tradition of legendary Dorothy DeLay, Trynchuk delved into the fundamentals of violin technique and its relationship to music.

Orpheus Academy (OA) is the educational arm of the Oregon Music Festival - an international, composer-focused summer music festival dedicated to symphonic music and based in Portland. An integral part of OMF, Orpheus Academy offers educational training program for talented young musicians between ages 14-25. This season 17 artists/teachers from USA, Malta, Canada, Korea, Switzerland, Norway, and Croatia will work side by side with young musicians offering them training and guidance in an artistically rich and growth-inducing environment.

OMF’s objective with Orpheus Academy is to offer top-level artistic training for young musicians in a rich artistic context of the festival -- and all of this for free. The ultimate goal of the program is to nurture growth and development of young talent in Oregon.

The best way for you to get involved with your community is to be a part of the performing arts. We want you involved OMF. There are many different ways to volunteer: marketers, fund development personnel, ushers, committee members and public relations... just to name a few. All these ways are ideal for you to get a great experience that you will treasure!

Mission Statement

The purpose of Oregon Music Festival is to promote, develop and nurture great art music for the benefit of the citizens of greater Portland area and all of Oregon, and to engage in creating opportunities for the public's musical growth, enjoyment, education and entertainment through the developments and operation of performance-oriented musical enterprises, festival programs, and concert programs of orchestral, choral or any other ensemble music.

Description

Oregon Music Festival (OMF) is a professional, international festival of symphonic music, dedicated to performance, promotion and development of classical music. As a summer music festival the event seeks to fill a gap in the city's classical music offerings, in particular in the area of symphonic music. OMF is led by the Artistic Collegium (a group of distinguished musicians), managed by a professional staff and governed by local citizens. We are committed to high musical standards, the latest in music scholarship and music education. The festival seeks to engage both local and international artists and present a spectrum of complementary works with a core emphasis on one or more composers. OMF’s education efforts are channeled through Orpheus Academy Northwest which provides mentoring to young local musicians by festival’s resident artists. OMF 206 is scheduled for June 18-June 30; it is dedicated to the works of two great composers: Schumann and Stravinsky.
