Mission Statement
Create opportunities for inspirational discovery and joyful learning
through hands-on exploration of the rich history of the
Port Washington area
Description
It took more than two years for the Port Washington Historical Society to plan this space. You’ll find our Exploreum to be a terrific history museum, maritime museum and children’s museum all rolled into one. This is the place where you’ll connect the past to the future through wonderful storytelling, hear the stories of our generations of families, the achievers, entrepreneurs, athletes, warriors, farmers, fishermen, seafarers -- all who left their mark on our area’s history have a home in downtown Port Washington.
History will come alive here. We’ve planned for interactive displays, traveling exhibits, dramatic graphic presentations, and a children’s maritime experience featuring cutting-edge technology. Our three-story building will have with a bow shaped-deck overlooking Lake Michigan with room for parties and school groups.
