ORGANIZATION: Center for Health Program Management

RPC Membership 2013-2014

On behalf of the Respite Partnership Collaborative, Sierra Health Foundation: Center for Health Program Management is seeking new members in the Respite Partnership Collaborative, a community‐driven body of dedicated individuals working together on an innovative project that supports respite programs as a way to respond to mental health crisis.

The Respite Partnership Collaborative (RPC) is a partnership of the County of Sacramento Division of Behavioral Health Services and Sierra Health Foundation: Center for Health Program Management. Interested Sacramento County community members who believe in the mission of the RPC are invited to apply for membership.

The RPC is now recruiting new members who are passionate about the mission of the RPC to join the collaborative journey. RPC members are volunteers who are committed to operationalizing the Sacramento County MHSA Innovation Plan. These volunteers represent a diverse cross-section of interests related to mental health issues and needs in Sacramento County. RPC members are expected to attend eighty percent of all monthly scheduled RPC meetings, participate in committees as needed, attend quarterly RPC events and represent the RPC at community stakeholder meetings.

The RPC is funded through the Sacramento County Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Innovation Component, which allows counties to try new approaches and practices to learn more about what may work to increase access for underserved communities, promote inter‐agency collaborations and increase access to services.

Mission Statement

The Center serves as a catalyst for community health improvement by addressing health issues in collaboration with funders and partners. The Center’s primary goal is to assist communities to develop the ideas, skills and influence required to play an integral role in improving their overall health and well-being. To accomplish these goals, the Center supports efforts to improve access and use of data, advance and contribute to evidence-based practice, evaluate results and communicate lessons learned to interested sectors and stakeholders.

Description

Over the past several years, nonprofits and public agencies throughout California faced vast increases in the need for their services, while resources diminished. In our funding area, Sierra Health Foundation could not fill these gaps alone. We had two options: either reduce funding and programming, or innovate and do our work differently. We chose to do our work differently, and the Center for Health Program Management is the beginning of that innovation.

We founded the Center for Health Program Management in 2012 in recognition of a statewide need for increased community capacity to engage in the planning, implementation and assessment of efforts that seek to address the health needs of California’s underserved. The Center is part of the Sierra Health Foundation network, but is a separate public benefit corporation. The Center offers statewide reach and broad opportunities for funding and partnering.

The Center for Health Program Management helps communities tap into and build their resources for maximum impact. The Center creates a hub for expertise and funding to be applied in creative ways, while leveraging leadership and operational support from Sierra Health Foundation.
