Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse and Ramp It Up Program Associate:

This position will provide 600 hours of service to Ramp it Up and 300 hours of service to CHOW, both programs of the Broome County Council of Churches.
Ramp It Up requires Friday and Saturday hours to be on-site for wheelchair ramp builds. The Program Asssciate will work with youth groups to construct wheelchair ramps for those in need. Responsibilities include learning the facets of the Faith In Action Volunteers program and the Youth Mentoring Initiative, working with Coordinator to interact with program applicants (clients), youth and adult volunteers, work teams, and program staff. The Associate will assist with site visits, inventory control, ordering building supplies, maintaining a safe work site environment, and assist with wheel chair ramp construction. A general understanding of mechanical drawings and basic construction principles is helpful. The Associate will also prepare reports and evaluations of the program. 300 hours of service with the CHOW program may include assistance with the CHOW bus as well as the CHOW community garden to make healthy food more accessible in our community.
- Complete 900 service hours between April/May-Nov. 2015
- Serve 25-30 hours weekly
- Receive a Living Allowance of $6,050
- Receive the Segal Education Award of $2,822 at the completion of service
- Be eligible for college loan forbearance

The purpose of the Rural Health Service Corps is to provide meaningful service and learning opportunities for young people committed to improving the health and lives of those living in South Central New York State.
The mission of the Rural Health Network of South Central New York (RHNSCNY) is to promote and improve the health of rural communities and strengthen each community's capacity to respond to health needs by reducing barriers and improving access and use of health and human services through advocacy, communication and partnerships. The RHNSCNY serves Delaware, Tioga and rural Broome County.
