Albuquerque Airport Greeter for Artists- Before Market


Meet the artists at the Albuquerque airport as they arrive. You get to welcome people from the 59 different countries represented in this years’ market to the land of enchantment. This position helps artists with luggage collection and boarding the appropriate shuttle to Santa Fe.

Artist Hospitality- Local Arrangements

Local Transportation volunteers help the volunteer chair organize and supervise transportation arrangements from the Sage Inn for all artists/escorts during Market week. This includes the Wednesday and Thursday training at St John’s, the Wednesday evening Community Event (Music on the Hill), and Market days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The volunteers on this committee work directly with the artists/escorts. Primary hours are morning and evening with market days open.

Booth Supplies (Dates: June 30 & July 1)
Booth supply volunteers provide critical assistance to the Market by packing the supplies used by artists and artist assistants to properly display and sell their traditional folk art at the Market. Booth supply volunteers are responsible for organizing the distribution of materials necessary for each artist to have a successful market.

Community Celebration at St. John’s College’s Music on the Hill (Date: July 8 )

Community Celebration volunteers help with set up and operations for the free event for the community to meet the artists and enjoy global music. Volunteers help welcome the community and organize the artist procession.

Educational Outreach Project
Educational Outreach Project volunteers will accompany VolutneerChair(s) during outreach visits in Northern NM, in preparation for International Folk Art Market | Santa Fe and International Folk Arts Week (IFAW) with the Museum of International Folk Art. Volunteers will work with scheduled youth groups during IFAW activities including: hands-on art making, gallery tours & artist demonstrations. Assist Arts Educator with hands-on art making project during the Community Celebration on Wednesday, July 8.

Handyperson
Handyperson volunteers help make the artists' booths retail-ready by hanging mirrors and delivering garment racks that these volunteers also help assemble. Duties might include attaching screws so artists can hang their work, moving tables and lifting boxes. Coming prepared with your own small tool kit and drill is recommended, but not required.

Interpreters
Interpret for artists during midweek training, Folk Art Museum panel discussions and demonstrations, and during the Market in their booth, to help the artists tell their story about their craft and their culture. All language skill sets needed.

Market Signs
Help install important directional (and other) signs for the Market while watching the Market go up! We start 8 days ahead of the event, with early morning or late afternoon shifts. Perfect if you like to climb ladders, but not required! This position allows you to be free on Market weekend for other volunteer jobs or to shop.

Visitor Assistance - Golf Cart Drivers (Date: July 8 & 9)
Friendly faces are needed to provide assistance to visitors by giving rides from the overflow parking lot to the elevator on a golf cart shuttle before, during, and after the Market. Must be at least 18 years old.

Volunteer Support (Dates: June 24 in Albuquerque, June 26 in Santa Fe)
Help with a variety of tasks such as volunteer t-shirt distribution, trainings, and check-in at the Market. This is a great position for returning volunteers who would like to be able to sit during their shift. Volunteers are needed before and during the Market.
