The Kids Café/Summer Meals Intern is central to providing healthy and quality meals and snacks, excellent customer service and timely completion of duties as assigned, for the benefit of kids in Sky Valley. The Kids Café/Summer Meals Intern is responsible for making sure meals/snacks are safely transported to sites and proper partner agency documentation is kept.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Make sure that food for meals/snacks is safely packed, transported, delivered, and served at assigned site.
  • Help keep accurate data for food inventory.
  • Help keep accurate data on kids in attendance.
  • Work with VOA staff and volunteers to provide activities for kids coming to Kids Café.
  • Provide information and referral for families as needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS:.

  1. Able to provide own vehicle.
  2. Food Handler’s card or be able to obtain within 1 week of starting.
  3. Able to attend Food LifeLine training for Kids Café.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills, good customer service skills with the ability to professionally, patiently and respectfully work with low-income families and kids.
  5. Strong attention to detail along with strong organizational skills.
  6. Must be able to work with families and kids with patience and good humor.

EFFECT ON END RESULT:

  1. Families and individuals will have received quality customer service care and safe, quality meals/snacks.
  2. Accurate collection of program data.
  3. Accurate and agency appropriate interaction with the Community.

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee in a business office environment to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to read, speak, stand, lift, walk, and sit.
  2. Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients.
  3. Must be able to drive or have reliable transportation for off-site events.
  4. Will be required to lift/carry items up to 40 lbs.
