Neighborhood Outreach Volunteer

Purpose:

Neighborhood Outreach Volunteers participate and support in both community and local events to answer questions and help to spread the mission of The Foundation of Light.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in community/local neighborhood events
• Stay up-to-date on the variety of services and opportunities in the area
• Help other volunteers or the Area/Co-Area Captains with set up and tear down of the event and distribution items
• Answer questions regarding the organizations mission and vision from the community
• Work with the Area Captain/Co-Area Captains to be aware of current events coming up in the area

Reports To: Area Captain/Co-Area Captain

Time Commitment: Minimum donation of 1 hour required (based upon scheduled/availability of events).

Qualifications:

• A passion and desire to assist those in need
• Must be able to interact positively with community members, leaders and other volunteers
• Friendly, pleasant manner
• Openly supports the mission and efforts The Foundation of Light (TFOL) and their partner organizations
• Knowledge of the welfare resources across the city (a Plus)

Age Requirement: None

Training:

• Information Session
• Shadow another neighborhood outreach colleague, volunteer or Area Captain/Co-Area Captain at an event

Dress Code:

• Something safe & comfortable should dress according to the weather
• Jeans/Khakis, dresses, skirts etc.
• Rubber-soled, comfortable shoes

Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, the Area Captain/Co-Area Captain, Community Outreach Coordinator and all Directors/Managers on Duty are available for questions and assistance
