ORGANIZATION: Community Action Partnership of Kern

Volunteers are needed for 6 months to a year, Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with minimum commitment of 4 hrs. per week. Tasks include assisting children with homework, facilitating recreational acctivities, providing data entry into CAP60 and ETO, answering phones, signing children in and out of the center, and assisting with set-up and clean-up.

Description

Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) has been serving Kern County, California for 50 years. We are one of the largest nonprofit agencies in Kern County and one of the oldest and largest Community Action Agencies in the United States. CAPK's 11 direct-service programs are designed to help alleviate poverty in Kern County and help its residents to become self-sufficient. Current volunteer opportunities are available at the CAPK Food Bank, Head Start/Early Head Start, Friendship House Community Center, and Shafter Youth Center.
