For 9 years Iridescent has been committed to helping underserved communities by providing them access to science and engineering programs. Here is an opportunity for you to give back to your community. Family Science Coordinator: We are looking for volunteers that can make a five week commitment at least once per week assisting our engineering instructors. The volunteers will assist the instructors in our Family Science program where family build hand-on projects together. Volunteers will help and encourage families to build, test, and redesign. This is a fun and unique opportunity to work with children and their family no experience is necessary. Sessions are typically held from 5-7 PM in the evenings on weekdays. Orientations and trainings are held once a month. We rely on the generosity of our volunteers and are grateful for your contribution. THANK YOU!

Mission Statement
Technovation's mission is to empower girls, especially those from underrepresented communities, to develop problem solving skills, self-efficacy, and financial capacity, critical to them becoming leaders and changemakers in their communities.
Description
Our Technovation Girls program equips young women (ages 8-18) to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors and parents, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems.
Girls are ready to change the world. Technovation makes sure they have the tools they need
Over the last 15 years, we’ve trained 150,000 young women to be technology entrepreneurs & innovators, empowering them to solve problems in their communities using technology.
5+ years after participating in Technovation programs, alumnae still credit the program with influencing their interests, career, and professional pursuits.
76% of Technovation alumnae pursue a STEM degree compared to 21% of female undergraduates who received STEM related degrees in 2012.
60% of Technovation alumnae work in STEM-related positions, compared to the national average in 2013.
Volunteer and help girls in your community learn and create solutions to real problems using technology!
