We are a Christian based, results-driven, after-school program that helps at-risk youth have abundant life. We are looking for people who love the Lord and love helping kids, to join us in the after-school hours to make a difference for kids.
Students failing in school are recommended to us by principals in the four under-resourced neighborhoods where we have after-school programming. We need volunteers to help us walk alongside the student as we work to enrich their lives-- mind, body, and soul. Come be a part of the solution!
How can you help?
1. Help kids with their homework. Encouraging them and giving them the individual attention they need.
2. Bible study or chapel - teaching them about God and His Word.
3. Be a mentor and encouragement! Building relationships is key!
Programming Days:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday
Volunteers choose one day a week (or more) .
Sample Programming Schedule:
3:30 - Students arrive (We provide transportation from school to program and home )
3:30-4:30 - Dinner/Chapel/Bible study
5:00-6:30 - Homework help/tutoring (most help needed here)
One day a week, one hour a day can truly make a difference! We are flexible with what time you come and need to leave!

Description
By The Hand Club For Kids is a faith-based after-school program helping kids to have abundant life - mind, body and soul. Strategically located in four of Chicago’s most under resourced neighborhoods (Altgeld-Gardens, Austin, Cabrini Green and Englewood), By The Hand is making a difference in the lives of over 1,500 students, walking with them from kindergarten through college.
Each of our volunteers play a special role in assisting our students to grow in their faith, live a healthy lifestyle and graduate from college. Volunteers are needed to help with homework, serving food and providing enrichment lessons for our students.
Volunteers can serve in a grade of their choice once a week on a day and time that works best for them. Programming runs Monday through Thursday between 3:30-6:30PM
