American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure on Saturday, May 21, 2016
The event is held at American Family Insurance Headquarters on Madison’s east side and is a one day bike ride featuring 4 mile to 100K routes. I would like to invite you to join the fun and volunteer.
Volunteer Opportunities and Times:
Set-Up Friday, May 20 - We need volunteers to help set-up, including decorating tables, putting up signs, setting up chairs, etc. Friday 3:00pm - 8:00pm
Breakfast - We need volunteers to help set up breakfast for the riders. You will set out bagels, fruit, coffee, creamer, sugar, etc. and keep it stocked for the riders. 6:00am - 10:30am.
Lunch - We need volunteers to help set up lunch for the riders. 10:30am - 2:30pm.
Red Rider and Champion Watchers - Watch for the amazing Champions & Red Riders as they ride back into the AmFam Headquarters. Radio in their bib number to the announcer so we can recognize them individually, by name, as they cross the finish line. 10:00am - 3:00pm
Lunch Pick-Up and Delivery On Route - We need at least 2 volunteers to pick up pre-paid lunch at a very nearby restaurant and deliver it to the volunteers at our rest stops, and also the Route Guides along the route. A driver’s license and car are required for this position. Volunteers will preferably have good knowledge of the area, the different routes (maps will be provided) and a GPS. 10:00am - 3:00pm
Medical Support at Rest Stops - Do you have a medical background? Perhaps you are a nursing student, EMT, or doctor. We need your help along the route. You will be stationed at one of the rest stops, and help riders with minor injuries. You will be provided a radio and an emergency number for major injuries. Shifts vary, but are generally 7:30am - 11:00am OR 11:00am - 2:30pm.
If you are interested, please contact me for further details. Your involvement in this fantastic community event is sincerely appreciated. Please let us know if you can help out and join the fun!
