We are in need of volunteers for our annual March for Babies event in Santa Rosa, CA on April 18th. 2015 marks the 46 th annual March for Babies fundraiser for March of Dimes. March for Babies is a family oriented and highly attended event with more than 5,500 total participants expected this year.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. In 2013, March for Babies raised over $100 million nationally, over $8.6 million in California and $1.27 million right here in the Bay Area! At least 78% of this money went back to communities to support our programs of research, community service, education and advocacy.
We would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Our event cannot happen without the help of the volunteers.
Tasks for the day of the event include the following:

-Registration

Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight.
Description
The first great polio epidemic in the U.S. was in 1916. The disease infected mostly children, killing thousands and leaving many more paralyzed. On a summer day in 1921, Franklin D. Roosevelt became one of its victims and the March of Dimes was born.
Through life saving research we beat polio, but we continue our efforts to help children today by working to save babies from the silent crisis of premature birth.
