We are a group of passionate people who believe in providing justice with compassion to vulnerable victims and witnesses of crimes as they have to navigate through the court system. Specifically, we help facilitate the placement of specially bred and trained facility dogs to provide comfort to those most in need, particularly victims of child abuse and domestic violence.
We are seeking an individual with a positive attitude who is detail-oriented and wants to make a difference as a GRANT WRITER for the Courthouse Dogs Foundation. Join our team and help articulate our vision, story and key messages through c ompelling grant applications.
TYPE: Volunteer Position
TIME COMMITMENT: 4-8 hours/week
POSITION DESCRIPTION: T he Grant Writer will be responsible for assisting us in the development and writing of grant proposals to be submitted to foundations and other grant-making organizations. He/she will help us to persuasively communicate our mission to potential funders. This individual will have some experience with Grant Writing. Work can be done remotely.
The Grant Writer will:
Assist in the writing and submission of letters of intent and grant proposals
Manage the grants calendar
Maintain records of grant proposal process
Research potential funding sources that match our mission statement
Volunteers are highly valued members of the Courthouse Dogs Foundation and contribute to making a significant difference in our ability to support victim and witnesses of crimes. We will provide reference letters for all volunteers who successfully complete a placement

Description
As an independent nonprofit organization, we strive to accomplish our mission by
- Educating members of the public and legal professionals about the benefits of facility dogs
- Guiding governmental agencies (prosecutor offices and law enforcement agencies) and nonprofit organizations (child advocacy centers and victim advocacy groups) in program development using a best practices model
- Supporting nonprofit service dog organizations that train and place facility dogs
- Encouraging and facilitating scientific research on the use of facility dogs
