Sexual Assault Awareness

Make a difference in your community by becoming a volunteer advocate with the Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC). Advocates provide crisis intervention, medical advocacy, and criminal justice support to victims of all ages and their families. The Coordinator covers the 24/7 hour hotline from 6am-6pm on weekdays. SARC relies on compassionate individuals to assist and accompany survivors outside of office hours.

Mission Statement

Incourage ~ Supporting victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. DVC Mission Statement: To provide crisis intervention, shelter and supportive services for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, with a commitment to safety, respect and promoting self-determination.

Description

The Domestic Violence Center offers free of charge shelter to any person fleeing a dangerous situation in Manitowoc County. All of our services are confidential with a victims rights and protection of privacy as the utmost priority.

The Sexual Assault Victims Services, or SAVS is a program with the Domestic Violence Center. SAVS provides free and confidential services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to victims of sexual assault and their families.

Individualized Support Services: Non-judgmental, supportive listening to survivors in person or on the Hotline. Survivors face many obstacles after a sexual assault, and staff and trained volunteers can tailor support to their individual needs. Advocates provide information and referrals to various community agencies.

Legal Advocacy: Support during the initial interview with law enforcement and throughout the criminal justice process. Advocates can also assist a victim with filing a restraining order.

Medical Advocacy: Accompanyment during medical procedures and evidence collection at the hospital.
