ORGANIZATION: Bivona Child Advocacy Center

  • Meet with children and families coming to Bivona, offering emotional support and information relating to the criminal justice system and general dynamics of child abuse
  • Accompany victims/secondary victims when appropriate, through medical exam, police interview, and court proceedings
  • Answer phone calls coming into Bivona
  • Provide information and referrals to families, including NYS Office of Victim Service claim compensation
  • Complete intake forms for all client contact, submit to Bivona Program Department in a timely fashion
  • Participate in 3 month and annual evaluation meetings with Case Coordinator
  • Adhere to pledge of confidentiality at all times
  • Assist with front desk responsibilities, including maintaining a safe environment for children in the waiting room

The mission of Bivona Child Advocacy Center is to coordinate and provide services and support to meet the needs of child victims of sexual or physical abuse and their families at a single and safe, child-friendly facility. The Center is committed to reducing trauma, promoting accountability, fostering healing, and advocating on behalf of child victims of sexual and physical abuse.

Description

Bivona Child Advocacy Center is a safe, welcoming place where children who have been sexually or physicallly abused can begn their journey of healing.

Bivona Child Advocacy Center staff facilitates an under-one-roof collaboration of social and legal agencies to protect, treat, and counsel child abuse victims and their families, and to investigate and prosecute the abusers. Bivona Child Advocacy Center is the only agency in Greater Rochester to provide such comprehensive services. Since opening our doors in 2004, we have evaluated nearly 20,000 children.
