Job Purpose
Assist the Program Coordinator in the delivery of the organization's programs and services. This includes directly managing volunteers, and client intake, input all data into database, and follow-up on all Drivers For Survivors requests. Reports to primary Program Coordinator and Founder / Executive Director.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Plan the volunteer program/service
- Develop and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program which reflect the mission of the organization
Organize the volunteer program/service
- Maintain DFS Database
- Recruit Companion-Driver Volunteers continually and assist to expand client base
- Provide training/orientation to Companion-Driver Volunteers per DFS orientation package
- Answer and respond to calls in timely manner, check voicemail, and email regularly
Engage volunteers
- Promote the volunteer program to gain community support of the volunteer program and the organization
- Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit the right volunteers with the right skills
Qualifications
Proficiency in the use of computers for:
- Word, Excel, and Email. Powerpoint would be a plus.
Requirements:
- Good working and positive attitude.
- Sensitivity, flexibility, good interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Social media minded.
- Valid California Drivers License, proof of vehicle insurance, and clear criminal background check.

- Work and sit for extended periods of time in a cozy office environment.

Mission Statement
Drivers For Survivors provides free transportation service and supportive companionship for ambulatory cancer patients, from suspicious findings through completion of treatments.
Description
This service is provided for ambulatory cancer patients living in Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Castro Valley, Ashland and Cherryland going to all cancer-related medical appointments within a 60-mile radius of ZIP code 94538, freeing them to focus on their health and essential treatment.
Clients under 18 must be accompanied by a adult guardian and all patients must be ambulatory. Our volunteer drivers are background checked and must have a good 5-year driving record to qualify.
We provide companionship along with the transportation.
