ORGANIZATION: Raritan Bay Area YMCA

The RBAY Teen Center provides a safe, supervised, fun place for over 300 Perth Amboy teens to be on Saturday nights from 7-10:30pm. The RBAY Teen Center offers the opportunity for socialization with peers and adults, guidance and participation in creative enrichment programs.

Under the direction of the Sport Director, the Teen Center Volunteer will assist in providing support to teens and ensure a safe and healthy environment for learning, development and leisure.

The Teen Center Volunteer will assist in providing a fun, well-rounded and safe environment for teens participating in the program. The Teen Center Volunteer will demonstrate cause driven leadership through the following YMCA Leadership Competencies - Mission Advancement; Collaboration;Operational Effectiveness andPersonal Growth. The Teen Center Volunteer engages in and promotes the YMCA mission through the core values: Honesty, Caring, Responsibility and Respect.














































































































































































Essential Functions May Include:

  • Assist in supervising and chaperoning Teen participants in a safe manner.
  • Assist in setting up and taking down of equipment before and after program.

  • Reporting any equipment or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Coaching teens when necessary in an appropriate manner using positive verbal reinforcement.

  • Responsible for strict adherence to all policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations.

  • Assist in sports instruction, games, and as a referee.

  • Provide creative ideas to engage teens and enhance the program.

  • Encourage good sportsmanship in all games and activities.

**All Volunteers MUST have a background check before they are allowed to work around children. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA offers Background Checks at no cost to the volunteer. Results must be received before volunteer service on site is allowed.
