Smiles are free! Come experience the love of people and horses ?HorsePower style?! This is the job that pays you so much more than money. HorsePower pays our volunteers with smiles, and knowing that what you are doing is changing lives of people you can touch, laugh with, and mentor. We need people of all walks in life. Seniors, retirees, students, family, medical professionals, equine experts; the only requirement is that you be 14 and over and have a willing heart to share.
We have periodic volunteer training sessions so you will be confident in what your role is. Most needed are horse leaders and ?side-walkers? ? people who walk alongside the horse and keep riders seated.

Description
HorsePower (Handi-Riders, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving the Sioux Falls area for the past twenty five years by providing a summer therapeutic horse program for individuals with disabilities. Horses have been found capable of providing extremely beneficial therapies - physical, mental, and emotional - for a broad spectrum of individuals. Children with autism speak for the first time, children with physical disabilities gain the strength and confidence to take their first steps, emotional scars are eased and overcome. We are developing an expanded therapeutic riding program that will provide year-round services to a number of populations within the community. This program will continue to provide beneficial therapies for individuals with physical or mental disabilities. Furthermore, individuals struggling with mental health or behavioral issues can also benefit from this type of therapy. Additionally, we will offer outreach services to disadvantaged or at-risk youth.
