Change Lives Through Conversation

ORGANIZATION: Monterey County Free Libraries - Castroville Branch Library

Conversation Group
Practing speaking in a supportive environment.

English Language Learners need a chance to practice what they're learning, and most don't have anyone to practice with! You can help by leading a Conversation Group that gives people a supportive place to take their new English skills out for a spin.

If you are interested in others and willing to help them build their skills and confidence, this is the opportunity for you. We'll provide training and resources and help you help others. You'll meet people eager to improve their language skills, and their lives.

Conversation Groups meet weekly for 1 hour, at a time that works for you and fits the library's schedule; volunteers should plan on set-up/clean-up time on your meeting day, and 1/2 - 1 hour of prep time each week. We're looking for a 3 month commitment, (6 months preferred). College students may work on a semester basis. We have openings at many MCFL branches, including the Castroville Branch.

Our next New Facilitator Training is on Tuesday, April 21, from 6-9 pm, at the Seaside Library Homework Center, 550 Harcourt Ave, Seaside. For more information or to register for the training, stop in to your local MCFL branch, or call Cathy at 831-883-7597. Join us to make a difference today.
