Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice philosophy. Hospice volunteers are there to hold a hand and listen, read or write a letter, and even provide comfort in times of stress. Volunteers are there to step in when a family member needs a break, and are there for the family and friends after their loved one has passed away.
We are currently looking for veteran volunteers or family members of veterans. Our organization has a large population of veteran patients who are in need of some comfort and companionship. By pairing a veteran volunteer with a veteran patient, stories can be shared, providing a safe environment of support. The pairings will also help patients find meaning and purpose. Veteran volunteers can also take part in pinning ceremonies as well as assisting patients with review of their lives. All of this work is vital to ensuring that our patients have a great quality of life.
