Mission Statement

Our purpose is to support the education of children at Sunset Park Elementary School by fostering relationships among the school community, parents, and teachers.

Description

Sunset Park Elementary PTO prides ourselves in being dedicated volunteers who are responsive to the needs of the students, teachers and overall school welfare. While we offer a lot of "sweat-equity" with behind-the scenes assistance, we also make lasting gifts to Sunset Park. Some of our past contributions include new equipment and materials for the PE, Music, Media Center and Art Specials areas, campus signs, picnic tables and umbrellas for the playground, eBeam smart boards for each grade level, various cosmetic improvements around the campus, including numerous mature oak trees, mulch and irrigation to provide added shade. The PTO sponsors character building assemblies and a significant portion of Accelerated Reader rewards (books). We also sponsor augmentation to our library via Birthday Book Club, offer field trip subsidy, assist in the Angel Tree, Math Day, Spelling Bee and offer opportunities for teachers to "earn" classroom funds via Box Tops for Education, auctions and fundraising efforts. The PTO sponsors the Running Eagles running club and assists with Field Day each spring. We also coordinate volunteers for day-to-day and special events at Sunset Park, from room parents to book fairs
