Objectives - To assist residents in the expansion of their knowledge of community-based recovery programs and meetings to promote their re-entry into the community.

Responsibilities - Transport and supervise individuals to/from off-site community based 12 Step Recovery Meetings and Activities, to/from employment interviews, job search appointments, One Stop Career Ctr. Meetings, and church activities.

Time - Usually evenings and some weekend days. Usually 3 - 4 hours per activity.

Requirements - Must complete a DOC Volunteer Application pkg.; Application/NCIC check must be approved, complete the New Volunteer Orientation Training and have approval, if appropriate, from the appropriate local Support Group body. A personal vehicle is required for use in transporting inmates, or approval from BOA to utilize a corporation vehicle. Volunteers must complete a Furlough Sponsor form, which must be approved by the Warden’s office.

Job Skills/Education - Transportation Specialist volunteers will provide a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and confirmation of current Insurance.

Commitment - Min. 1 year of volunteer service

Community Re-Entry Services Transitional Housing

Successful re-entry is predicated on an environment that builds the necessary skills for a solid recovery. Transitional Housing maintains a positive recovery community to assist residents in becoming productive citizens. The Community Re-Entry Services transitional housing program provides individuals with a positive, safe, and drug-free residence where they can make a successful transition to independent living.

Individuals may be eligible for our transitional housing program if they meet these requirements:

• Have been released from prison (typically 120 days or less);
• Abstinent from drug and alcohol and desire to live in a recovery community;
• Encouraged to have successfully completed a treatment program.

Residents are required to:

• Remain drug and alcohol-free
• Abstain from sex on property
• Refrain from violence and criminal activity
• Maintain their apartments and complete assigned chores

Admission to the transitional housing program is voluntary. Anyone may refer an individual to the program.
