Mentors work one-on-one with newly arrived refugee families and individuals to provide support as they adjust to life in the United States. Mentors can serve as "cultural translators" and guides to negotiating American culture as well as supporters of their mentee’s culture. Examples of activities include demonstrating how to access public transportation, find and use a local library, navigate a supermarket, and practice English.
