ORGANIZATION: Rhode Island Free Clinic

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Every fall, the Rhode Island Free Clinic hosts a totally successful and heartfelt fundraiser to support patient services, raise awareness, secure 10% of the annual operating budget, and to honor an exemplary community partner. Typically 200 friends of the Clinic and key members of Rhode Island’s health care delivery system attend the event, which is always held in Providence.

Financial goals are met on a very modest budget, but always exceed expectations through in-kind donations (10%), sponsorships (60%), live auction (25%) and ticket sales (15%). This year’s event goal is $100,000 - which is purposely 10% more than we raised at our very successful 2014 event. Amica Insurance is the 2015 honoree. Marc Perlman, CEO of Job Lot is expected to repeat his past performance as the Auctioneer. The event will be held at the Providence Marriott on October 8 th from 5:30 - 7:30.

We would like to share the joy of creating an equally successful fundraising event in 2015 with the help of reliable adults who can donate their time and talents for one or more of the following responsibilities:

1. Auction Ambassadors: Envision and secure exciting and unique Live Auction items no later than June 30 th so that we can promote these in the invitation, on our website and by email during the summer months and weeks leading up to the October 8 th event.

We need five (5) one-of-a-kind experiences to supplement the five direct patient services we always offer. We’re happy to help brainstorm ideas (we have lots) but need your connections and initiative to secure the items and their documentation on time.

Auction Ambassadors are welcome to be present the evening of the event to help "spot" bidders during the Live Auction program and to experience the results of their hard work!

2. Envelope Angels: Save the Date Cards and Invitation mailings need to be stuffed, labeled, and stamped. If you know a dynamic duo who likes the sense of accomplishment that comes completing a mailing on time, we’re looking for two experienced volunteers for two mailing preparation dates: one in June and one in late August.

3. Sponsor Reminders: Are you someone who enjoys talking to people you don’t know? To successfully enroll 60 generous community partners in sponsoring the Clinic’s high visibility gala, we need five or six individuals who are happy to follow-up our March sponsorship invitations once a month during April, May and June. What’s involved? A phone call and/or voicemail to politely but enthusiastically inquire about their sponsorship level decision, or to remind them of deadlines for names of event guests, payment, and camera-ready advertising materials for the always attractive event program booklet, website, and sponsorship publicity at the event.

Mission Statement

Rhode Island Free Clinic’s mission is to provide free, comprehensive medical care and preventive health services to adults who have no health insurance or cannot afford those services We also serve as an educational training site for aspiring health care professionals.

Description

Rhode Island Free Clinic is a recognized leader in providing vital health services to improve the health of vulnerable Rhode Islanders. Even after the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act, over 50,000 uninsured, working poor, and low-income RI adults will be left without health care and nowhere else to turn. We are a critical part of the health care delivery system - the safety net for the safety net - in Rhode Island.

In 2014 the Clinic provided more than 7,000 patient visits through its active corps of 800 volunteers, a lean professional staff of 7, and 7 AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers. With an annual budget of $1 million, the Clinic leveraged over $5 million in additional resources to provide vital medical care to Rhode Island’s uninsured, working poor and low-income adults.

Rhode Island Free Clinic is the only medical home for Rhode Island’s uninsured, working poor and low-income adults that provides an on-site program integrating free primary care, chronic disease management and behavioral health services. Services and training are provided at a state-of the-art, 5,000 square foot facility in Providence. Care is also provided through a statewide Physicians Network, where patients are seen in offices of volunteer doctors throughout Rhode Island.
