ORGANIZATION: Weber State University

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
Latinos In Action

Latinos in Action is a nonprofit organization working to build future Latino leaders by having high school students tutor elementary school students. The LIA regional conference aims to engage and inspire students in college prep. Students will attend leadership and character development workshops and, most importantly, learn of the many resources and opportunities for student support that make a college degree a reality.

Last year, the Latinos In Action Conference had over 1,400 with the Keynote Speaker being America Ferrera from Ugly Betty. This year, we are expecting over 1,600 people attending this conference. Therefore, we are in need of volunteers.

Volunteers

Volunteers will help with check-in, directing participants to workshops, providing information to attendees, and other service as needed. We are asking that volunteers sign-up in two hour shifts (or more!).

This is a great way to get involved, earn service learning time for a class, meet new-potential WSU Students, learn more about Latinos In Action, but most of all giving your time in the service of helping others.

Need Volunteers to:

  • Chaperone Schools
  • Usher
  • Parking
  • Assessments
  • Workshops
  • Registration
  • Setup crew
  • Clean up
  • Floaters
  • Volunteer Leaders
  • Trash and Bathroom duty

All volunteers will have an opportunity to interact with students and encourage them to go to college.
