Girl Scouts - ROCKY MOUNTAIN DAY CAMP (RMDC)

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama

Girl Scout - ROCKY MOUNTAIN DAY CAMP (RMDC) is in need of your help! This year camp will run June 1-5, from 9 am-3:30 pm and will be held at KPC. Day Campers are all girls entering 1st-6th grades, Older Girl Unit includes girls entering 7th-12th grades, and Program Aides are girls entering 7th-12th grades who have completed Council PA Training - which is for Cadettes only. RMDC serves approximately 175 Girl Scouts each summer!

This year’s theme is associated with Outdoor Adventure; Silver and Gold...learn new skills but keep the old. We will still have all of the usual day camp activities and traditions (swimming, canoeing/kayaking, crafts, badge work).

RMDC is a 100% volunteer-run day camp, and it takes a large group of volunteers (45) willing to give their time and talents for the girls to have a wonderful camp experience. We rely on you to help fill these positions. The great news is that you don’t have to have any previous day camp experience. We do guarantee that our volunteers have a reserved space for their daughter. If you have small children and/or sons, they can attend camp too in their own specialized unit.

The Council requires that day camp volunteers have two required planning/training meetings prior to day camp. One meeting will be in March/April and the other will be Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2015. You will also be a part of the set up and disassembly of day camp. We request all volunteers to be at camp approximately 30-45 minutes before and after camp each day. As a potential volunteer you need to be aware of these commitments.

Below please find positions that still need to be filled:

1 - Day Camp Health Manager (Nurse) - First Aid/CPR certification required; RN preference

1 - Lifeguard - certification required

1 - Waterfront (Canoes) - certification required

2 - Fishing - certification required

9 - Unit Leaders/ Counselors

2 -Day Camp Meal Planner - (Helps Girls plan, lead and execute 3 meals served at camp - commitment for Wed, Thurs [spends the night], & Fri.)

Thank you in advance for taking time to consider volunteering for RMDC 2015!
