There is a step by step guide in each kit that will walk you through how to facilitate each program lesson. The detailed script directors volunteers through the activity and discussion. No matter the grade, the lesson plans are structured similarly. The time commitment is minimal comparted to the significant impact you make. For as little as an hour a week, you can make a difference in the lives of young people in your community. The classroom commitment for the elementary school grades are five 45 minute lessons. The volunteer will need to contact their classroom teacher to establish the visiting schedule - Typically, at an agreed day & time on consecutive weeks. Before visiting the classroom, JA suggests volunteers spends a minimum of 30 minutes reviewing and preparing for their lesson. JA staff is available to answer your questions or make suggestions pertaining to your volunteer assignment.
