As an intern with the Greenpeace Video department you will be exposed to every aspect of video production, from prepping for shoots, to shooting itself, to post-production. In general, our interns start out organizing footage, transcribing, creating selects reel (in Final Cut Pro). We also use their assistance for shoots whenever possible. In addition, sometime during your internship you will have the chance to create your own video content. Previous interns have made videos about a range of topics, from local coal plant fights to being a Greenpeace intern.
Responsibilities:
- Post-production assistance (shotlisting and transcribing, checking masters, ingesting footage into FCP, creating selects reels)
- Assisting on video shoots (pre-production, schlepping gear, helping with lighting and sound)
- Creating DVDs of Greenpeace videos
- Organizing our YouTube account
Skills You May Learn or Practice:
- Using FinalCut
- Using various types of cameras (Sony XDCAM EX3, Canon 5d, etc.)
- Lighting and sound recording
- Post-production editing
Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
- Willingness to share in the less glamorous aspects of our work, for ex logging and transcribing footage
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Online research skills
- Proficient typing speed
- Ability to work well independently
- Commitment to non-violence as a means of affecting change
- Enthusiasm for protecting the environment
- Some video production/post-production experience preferred but not required
