PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness education program which teaches children in grades 3 to 5 (ages 8 to 11) personal family preparedness, awareness of local hazards, basic coping skills and home fire safety. Presenters deliver a highly interactive 40-60 minute presentation in school classrooms and other settings throughout the community.

OPEN TIME DAYS

Presentations are delivered during weekdays or on weekends and require a minimum 2 hour time commitment which does not include travel time

1 hour presentation plus time for set-up and clean up.

Initial training requires a minimum of 8-12 hours to complete.

REQUIRED TRAINING

Numerous tools have been developed for this program including a standardized curriculum, workbook, quizzes and activities which have been carefully constructed with the help of curriculum and hazard experts.

Many tools for presenters have been developed to foster consistency and fidelity to the program goals and objectives.

  • Basic Instructor Fundamentals (BIF), 6075 minutes online course
  • The Pillowcase Project Training Part 1 (online or instructor led), 6090 minute course
  • The Pillowcase Project Training Part 2 (in person \"teachbacks\")
