ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Cascades Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The American Red Cross - Cascades Region is currently seeking an intern to work with the Volunteer Services and Disaster Services departments to help recruit volunteers for the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign (HFPC). The HFPC is a national initiative dedicated to reducing injury and death due to home fires by 25 percent over a five-year period. To accomplish this goal, we need to recruit community members, faith based organizations and corporate partners to volunteer with us in canvassing our neighborhoods, educating families about fire safety and installing smoke alarms free of charge.

OPEN TIME DAYS

At least one summer or school semester; two preferred. This position will work hours commensurate with normal business hours of operation, (typically 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday) with occasional Saturday hours to help support day-of-service events.⦆ A minimum of 10 hours per week is preferred. Hours are FLEXIBLE and can be worked around school schedules and commitments.

REQUIRED TRAINING

⦆ Red Cross orientation

⦆ Within first 30 days:

  • CPR/First Aid/AED (preferred)
  • Volunteer Connection training
  • Job specific training for recruitment
