We will spend the morning removing invasive blackberry to help maintain healthy habitat for the many animals that call the preserve home, including Rocky Mountain Elk, Blacktail Deer, Bobcat, American Black Bear and Bald Eagle.

Stick around after and explore the over four miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding that traverse through the Preserve!

Please register at forterra.org/events.

Where to meet:
The Preserve is located off 134th St E in Buckley WA. Drive south on Highway 165 from Buckley. 134th St E will be on your left approximately 2 miles south of the town of Buckley. Follow the FORTERRA event signs down this gravel road to a small parking area on the left. Meet at the green FORTERRA tent. Parking is limited so please carpool.

What to bring:
Please dress for the weather - rain or shine. Wear close-toed shoes, long pants and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. (Boots and rain gear are a good idea if it has been raining, as the site can get muddy) Bring a water bottle.

About Forterra

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
