Established in 1979, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida serves residents of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties. Each day, 926 employees and nearly 1,000 volunteers help 1,600 patients and their families live better with advanced illness. Description

Community Hospice volunteers are vital members of the hospice care team. And whether they offer companionship and a listening ear to patients and family members, help with pricing donated items at the Thrift Shop or assist at fundraising events, there's a volunteer opportunity for everyone!

Many volunteers visit patients in their homes, at nursing homes or assisted living facilities, or at Community Hospice inpatient care centers while receiving short-term, acute care.

They spend quality time reading, taking walks, writing letters, or simply enjoying conversations with patients. They also offer family caregivers a chance to run personal errands or otherwise take a break from their day-to-day duties.
